High dynamics and precision – even in large workspaces

Our customized gantry systems are based on the proven OWIS standard components. They are ideal for demanding applications that require maximum precision and dynamics. They enable precise positioning, especially in large workspaces, with travel distances of up to 1,500 mm and a repeatability of less than 0.5 µm.

High-dynamic gantry system

The XYZ gantry system is a versatile and powerful solution  – wherever precise overhead motion is required. The integrated LINPOS stages with absolute measuring systems combine maximum dynamics with outstanding positioning accuracy. A magnetic load compensation on the z-axis also enables the use of direct-drive linear stages for vertical movements.

Gantry system

The gantry, built using LIMES 170 and LIMES 124N linear stages, is mounted on a solid granite block. It enables vibration-damped measurements and is ideally suited for the automatic optical inspection (AOI) of large or heavy test objects. The test object remains stationary while the measuring head is positioned along the x, y and optionally z-axes.

Sample remains stationary

With OWIS gantry systems, the workpiece or measurement object is not moved. Instead, two synchronized linear axes and a portal axis position the measuring head or tool precisely above the object. This means that even sensitive or large-area samples can be reliably measured and processed.

Our gantries are based on the proven LIMES and LINPOS series. They are equipped with high-resolution absolute encoders, include integrated cable management and parameterized motor controllers – for easy integration into the overall setup and direct connection to higher-level controllers such as PLCs.

Additional axes from the OWIS modular system allow further degrees of freedom to be flexibly implemented – according to your requirements.
