Dr. Dominik Zimmermann joins the OWIS executive board
Moving forward together
At OWIS, we have big plans. That’s why we are expanding our management team: As of October 1, 2026, Dr. Dominik Zimmermann is leading our company alongside Rüdiger Ruh, our Managing Partner. Dominik Zimmermann is responsible for development and design, marketing and sales. Rüdiger Ruh is responsible for organizational development as well as the planning and management of manufacturing and assembly. This clear division of responsibilities responds to the growing importance of our OEM and project business, with new demands on our internal structures and processes.
When Rüdiger Ruh took over OWIS in 2021, he set out not only to advance our proven standard components, but also to expand our portfolio of customized engineering solutions. He convinced Dominik Zimmermann to join OWIS and build up the project business. Under Dominik‘s leadership, this business has grown significantly over the past five years and become an increasingly important revenue driver. OWIS Engineering encompasses our customized solutions – from positioning systems and optical boxes to customization and OEM solutions.
Dominik Zimmermann combines technical expertise with experience in business development. As an engineer specializing in microsystems technology, he brings experience in semiconductor technology and optoelectronics. In 2024, he took on additional business responsibilities as an authorized signatory and Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO). As Managing Director, he now oversees the entire chain from development and design through marketing and sales.

Rüdiger Ruh is focusing on our internal structures and processes. Standardized components and individual engineering projects place different demands on our value chain.
To ensure that OWIS can handle both efficiently, we are continuously adapting our organizational structure as well as the planning and management of manufacturing and assembly. Investments in machinery and a higher degree of automation provide additional flexibility and efficiency.

At our employee meeting on September 29, Rüdiger Ruh announced the expansion of the management team. Dr. Dominik Zimmermann received a warm round of applause from the team.
